About Us

The Islamic Information Center, Sultanate of Oman, is a nonprofit organization which is under the support and guidance of The Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science. Its mission is to provide information on the teachings of Islam and its practices to non-Muslims and provide essential support to new Muslims who are residing in the Sultanate of Oman.

This website supports our mission in presenting Islam worldwide. More specifically, the purpose of this website is: (a) to explain Islamic beliefs and practices; (b) to remove the misconceptions about Islam; (c) to explain the position of Islam in relation to other heavenly religions; (d) to provide an interactive platform for dialogue in matters of religious beliefs and practices; and (e) to offer authentic links to other sources of Islamic information.

The sources of the contents of this site are from Qur'an and Sunnah; and from known local and international Islamic scholars and thinkers; and from approved publications.

Our Office Timing

The offices of the Islamic Information Center are opened from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM daily (except Fridays) and from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM throughout the week.

Services to Non Muslims

Our mission is to provide information on the teachings of Islam and its practices and to remove misconceptions on Islam. Accordingly, the Islamic Information Center offers the following services to non-Muslims:

  • Offer free Islamic literature in various languages.
  • Organize lectures on Islam in various languages.
  • Conduct (by arrangement) guided tours of the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and help tourist guides in explaining Islam to the visitors.
  • Entertain one to one dialogue on Islam with the visitors who come to our offices.

Services to New Muslims

The Islamic Information Center gives the following services to new Muslims:

  • Provide a standard package of books which new Muslims need. These include the Holy Qur`an with translation, books on the five pillars of Islam, book on tahara, and so.
  • Offer training on Salaa, reading of the Holy Qur`an and teaching of basic tenets of Islam.
  • Organize classes on aqidah, fiqh and basic Arabic reading and writing.
  • Provide mentorship and follow up of new Muslims` progress and needs.
  • Organize social gatherings where new Muslims can interact and know each other.
  • Facilitate acquiring of certificates and other legal documents which new Muslims need in legal matters and documents.
